Patton had a terrible day, with all the other sides arguing all throughout the day, and him being unable to control the fighting he just felt altogether useless. Patton wasn’t going to let that ruin his day though, and decided to grin and bear it, which is what led up to him being in his room bawling his eyes out. The day started off with the fighting and constant bickering, but during breakfast he had spilled maple syrup on himself, and he had to take a shower after Deceit, who was known to take all the hot water. So after his cold shower, Patton went to clean around the mind palace, and it was quite the task. He was however not all to happy when Roman fighting with Virgil had managed to trash the common room, that he had finished cleaning first. In a fit of anger, Patton scolded the two and had them clean up their mess. As they did that Patton went onto cooking dinner.
While Patton was cooking Logan had walked in to make coffee, as he needed the caffeine to boost his energy.
“Salutations Patton. If I may ask, what’s for dinner tonight?” Logan asked, Patton turned around and smiled.
“Oh it’s just spaghetti.” Patton said, and Logan nodded leaving with his coffee. Virgil had walked in without Patton hearing him enter. So Patton just began silently crying, Virgil didn’t hear it at first until the soft sniffles became noticeable.
“Patton you okay?” Virgil asked, walking over. Patton jumped and looked at Virgil.
“O-Oh! Kiddo! I didn’t realize you were here.” Patton smiled, and wiped his eyes.
“Why are you crying?” Virgil asked, walking over to Patton. He placed his hand on Patton’s shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
“I-It’s nothing really.” Patton reasoned, making Virgil roll his eyes.
“I don’t believe that Patton.” Virgil sighed, and looked at the food, then he dragged Patton to his room.
“Okay we have a couple minutes before the food needs to be tended to. So could you please tell me what’s wrong?” Virgil asked, Patton just sat there tears welling up in his eyes again.
“I-I just didn’t w-want to hear y-you all fighting!” Patton cried. Virgil flinched at comment and wanted to panic, but he knew he had to help Patton first.
“Patton I didn’t know we were doing that to you. Why didn’t you tell us?” Virgil asked softly, as to not cause any alarm to the older side.
“I didn’t want to make you guys feel bad.” Patton said, a frown plastered on his face. Virgil led Patton over to the bed, and sat him down.
“You stay here, I’m going to go ask Logan to continue with the food, because we need to talk some more.” Virgil rushed off to tell the logical side about the situation and asked him to inform the others about it so they could help him out later. Once Virgil got back, he sat down next to Patton. Patton was rather quiet for the rest of the ordeal, but Virgil didn’t leave patton.
“Patton...we all care for you too, and we want you to feel happy. We don’t want you to be upset.” Virgil mumbled, Patton looked over at his dark strange son. He saw that Virgil was looking for more words, when he just leaned on Virgil. Patton’s hair just hanging in front of his face, as Virgil adjusted himself so he could give Patton some cuddles. Granted Virgil wasn’t normally this touchy feely, and struggled to not push Patton away.
“I-I just d-don’t want to b-burden you all.” Patton stuttered, Virgil just squeezed Patton a bit tighter.
“You would never make us think any less of you. We want you to be happy.” Virgil said, shifting himself a bit. A knock at the door caught Virgil’s attention and he got up to go and open the door.
“Here’s your food. Roman and I have made an agreement, we are going to make some compromises. We wanted some time alone to work on this. So he suggested that I brought food to you two.” Logan handed Virgil two plates of food, and then placed some water on a desk by the door. Logan waved goodbye and then walked towards the common room.
“Dinner’s here.” Virgil said, placing a plate in front of Patton, who happily grabbed it and began eating.
“Wow! Who made this? It’s really yummy!” Patton said, as he devoured the food. Virgil smiled, and handed Patton a water bottle, while he sat down and ate his own food. The two sat in silence for a bit, none wanting to break the rare peace in the mind palace.
“Want to go and throw water balloons at Roman and Logan?” Patton asked, Virgil nodding as the two of them went and grabbed their water balloons. Virgil had a very evil plan, that was sure to make Patton smile. The two filled their water balloons up, and placed them in a bowl of water. Patton had two water balloons and Virgil did too. They walked out quietly, and when the time was right threw the balloons at their victims. While Logan and Roman yelled about how rude it was to just throw water balloons at them. While they yelled Virgil, took the bowl of water and dumped it on Patton, who froze for a bit, before laughing his butt off. Tears fell from his eyes because of how hard he laughed, and Logan’s face was on fire from just hearing Patton’s adorable laugh.
“Virgil! I’m so glad you’re my son! You’re the best son a dad could ever have.” Patton giggled out, as Virgil crossed his arms and looked away, a very dark blush on his face.
“Whatever.” Virgil grumbled, at least his dad was feeling better and didn’t feel like trash.
