|PICTURES DO NOT BELONG TO ME|
Stepping out of the fireplace with a flash of green you listened curiously to your surroundings. When you saw that Remus was not in his usual chair you worried that he had bed-ridden himself.
You used the floo powder network to get to the small Wizarding village, the closest to you, in Wales, hoping to find all you needed. You were in luck, but you felt your luck had been used up when you heard the awful coughs from the upstairs of your cottage.
You quickly dashed around your home, anxious to put all of your purchases away and get to your husband.
With record breaking time (by muggle standards) you placed everything in the correct spots, neatly (with the help of your magic), and carried the tray of food, medicine, tea, and water to your bedroom.
“My love,” You said in greeting, taking in your husband's appearance with regret.
Though you now had access to the Wolfsbane potion, which allowed Remus to keep a sound mind during his monthly transformation, it didn’t stop the pain that came leading up or during his transformation. And with the two of you growing older, Remus’ body was unable to recover the way it once could.
But, if we are talking about differences, you should make it a point to mention Remus’ face at the sight of your appearance. His face had once filled with shame, anger, helplessness, and longing when you saw him in such a state. Now, his face brightened increasingly as though you were the hero coming to protect him from the monsters.
“Cariad,” he greeted you in his mother tongue while making a move to sit up.
“None of that, my love, let me help you so you do not strain yourself more.” You rushed to his side as you noticed his movement.
Remus' chuckle sounded painful but he still smiled through his grimace.
“I apologize, my dear, I was quite excited to see you.” He responded.
“I am your wife, you see me everyday.” You say with an airy tone.
Remus made a noise of appreciation as he looked at you with all the wonder in the world.
You brushed some of the wispy hairs from his forehead and kissed it once.
“Fever?” Remus questioned
Your lips thinned, “Yes.” You moved to open the window in your bedroom.
“Don’t worry, my darling.” He replied as if meant to assure you.
“I’ve been looking into some muscle relaxer potions.” You said, a little absentmindedly.
Remus shook his head, “You don’t have to do that-“
“I should’ve done it a long time ago.” You cut in, your tone making it very clear that you didn’t want Remus’ disapproval.
Remus grabbed your hand gently, and ran his thumb over the back of your hand in soothing circles, “What I mean, is I don’t want you to make yourself sick worrying about me.”
“I always worry about you.” You say with vulnerability that you no longer withheld.
Remus smiled, “As I do you. Whatever will happen, will happen, so let’s enjoy our time now.”
“Yes.” You agreed quietly
After a moment of affectionate gazing, that would have Sirius gagging, you said, “I brought you up some food, have you eaten anything?”
Remus shook his head no, causing your brows to furrow in worry, but you looked away so that he would not be displeased.
He noticed anyway, “I wasn’t very hungry, and I didn’t want to make you rush.” Remus said.
“I suppose we should start keeping some snacks in our room, so that you don’t need to face the same problem.” You replied.
Remus nodded, “That would be a good idea.” His face shown in content, much to your pleasure.
“Here,” using your wand, you levitated the tray of Remus’ food and drinks so that it could comfortably hover in the air above his lap.
“I'll go get some more food, I don’t think this will be enough.” You made your way to turn when Remus let out a small shout of disagreement.
“No!” The tray of food magically moves itself so that Remus doesn’t knock it all over as he reaches for you. The look on his face tells you the unspoken words of “all I want is for you to be here.”
“Rem.” You start, but Remus only shakes his head.
You let out a little sigh, and Remus grins, knowing he’s won.
You move to your side of the bed, sitting on top of the covers. You watch as Remus digs into his plate while trying to make small talk with you.
When he’s done and the tray is moved, he lays his head on your chest. Your hand subconsciously goes to his head, your nails scratching and soothing him.
“I love you.” You can hear in his voice that he’s about to fall asleep.
“I love you, Rem.” With a gentle kiss upon his forehead you know he’s asleep.
