Summary:

a short story about player making a mistake...which leads to ivy getting hurt, which leads to the guilt that comes afterwards

Getting this at 1 am after a few weeks of architecture class all nighters is crazy and awesome and my back hurts and I’m so glad ppl still like it after all these years……..

99% of what I read is angst but you know what my secret favorite fanfiction category is? Outsider POV. I love a good fic where we’re in the perspective of characters who have no idea what the fuck is going on and are stuck watching our MCs be absolutely ridiculous. I love every version of this trope. It could be mostly text based. It could be mostly social media based. As long as it checks the boxes? I’m all in. You don’t understand. I think the first one of these I read was with Sam and Dean Winchester as kids in school from the perspective of a guidance counselor. I have been ruined. I have read every fic I could find with the premise of SkyGem’s Retirement AU (Yuri On Ice). I read White Collar DC crossover fanfiction despite not knowing or caring about White Collar because I treat it like outsider POV fanfictions with a fun identity reveal element. My favorite My Hero Academia fanfiction of all time is entirely made up of social media bit and bobs (tumblr posts, twitter posts, text message chains, etc). I am currently reading a Carmen Sandiego fic like this and it is such a crack fic. It is so unserious. I can’t put it down. I am so hooked.

Carmen: I’m so normal. Knowing everyone’s psychological standpoints from a single conversation is a perfectly reasonable thing to be able to do.

Player: Carmen,,

Player: I want you to think long and hard about who taught you how to do that.

Carmen: …………….

Carmen: The way you emphasize certain words underlines your lack of—

Zack and Ivy take it upon themselves to teach Carmen every single reference they know but she Always Gets Them Wrong.

“Road work ahead? It better.” “So I’m sitting there, ketchup on my shoes,” “oh my god they were schoolmates…”

And it drives the siblings INSANE. They swear she’s messing with them but she always looks so genuine.

Until one day. Carmen said another slightly off quote over the coms. And Player “carmen i swear if you’re pulling that SAME PRANK—” And that’s how they realize she’s been gaslighting them into thinking that she didn’t know all those quotes.

literally how are u supposed to write an outsider’s perspective between the ending of s2 and beginning of s3. team red goes oFF THE GRID HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PULL SILLY CONTENT IF THERES NO CONTENT TO BE SILLY ABOUT?????? perishing. rotting in my grave. it’s FINE i’ll FIGURE IT OUT :’)

I took it upon myself to make Player attend school Earlier for even Longer. He’s always running off to do his secret tech things and his classmates try to find him online but he’s a ghost (taking after Carmen <3).

AND SPEAKING OF CARMEN. I’ve seen so many people try Twitter fics with her but they all fell through after a few chapters. SO AGAIN, It is my self-appointed duty to feed this fandom.

(also just in general, we barely get outsider POVs that aren’t associated with VILE (brainwashed Gray) or ACME (Julia and Chase) despite Carmen Sandiego being such a prominent figure (literally an international super thief))

Anyways yes pls read my fic it’s full of sillies and goofs and despite being YEARS after Carmen Sandiego ended, there’s so many of y’all??? Like wow I did not expect that many people to see this
