Ok, I get it that we're in a complicated job market right now. I understand that most places don't need to hire that many people. But whatever happened to following up with your applicants?!

Especially if you gave them an interview!

Why can't you at least have the common decency to notify them that they weren't chosen instead of making them wonder?!

Just a cat parent now working two jobs and wondering what’s next. Can’t believe it took me 3 months to find a second job. Urgently hiring will always boil down to selective hiring

You know, I think in the current job environment every young person should have their first job be as a camp counselor. It makes every other job seem divine in comparison. “You’re saying I’m only working 40 hours a week? Wow, I’ll have so much free time!” “I get paid how much?? Whoa! Minimum wage is so high! I’m making twice as much each week!”

With that said I’m legitimately thinking about going back in a year or two

Yes, you! The person who thinks too much about comic book characters and deep dives into esoteric subjects in order to create a free work of art?

How's your typing speed? How quickly could you learn a new way to type? Do you like knowing things, often terrible things, that other people don't? Can you bear the weight of both banality and daily tragedy? Does the idea of a stressful job make you bare your teeth in a feral grin, welcoming the challenge?

Do you get fed up with the American court systems? Does the frustration of injustice and the feeling of helplessness choke you out at night?

Now is a fantastic time to look into the field of a Stenographer, or a Court Reporter.

Every court case must be legally and accurately documented and frankly there aren't enough stenographers to go around. Especially since a great number of them will be moving into retirement age in the coming years.

It's a no-breaker that the government is on fire, but we can't just shut it down until a roiling mass of different peoples somehow agree on a better way to get shit done. There are people in the now who need to have their cases heard sooner rather than later and Court Reporters are essential to that happening.

***I'm not claiming that this is or has ever been my job, either! There's like one person on this site who has confirmation of at most which state I lived in years ago and that's because we're personal email-level friends. Please be careful about what info you share on the Internet.

***That being said, I've held some fairly atypical jobs over the years and so have many friends of mine. They can be honestly fun to talk about and it's always fun to make someone realize that yes, that thing would have to be a job, that's an actual job thing to do. And I like to talk up my friends' wild experiences as well!

How To Get A Job Fast As Hell

Apply to a  job, wait (1) day, then call.  Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application. 

 When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly,  tell them your first and last name.  

Describe your experiences  as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years]  costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.  

Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say  things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.”  “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”

When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say  YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now). 

Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.

When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy. 

If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)

Questions for after the interview:

1.  Does this position offer upward mobility?

2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)

 Then, shake their hand,  Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it. 

AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows  that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices. 

DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone.  In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.

Mostly I’m anti-capitalist, but going from 6 hours of schoolwork to 6 hours of an actual job feels good because I’m paid for it and I don’t have to worry about time (even with the fact that I actually got burned twice, and I only realised one of those times!)

Guys i don't even know what to do, i am so stuck and every move i can make is wrong. My job gives me money and something stable for rental applications, because i want to move out of my parent's house so so badly and have been trying for so long. At the same time it is actively breaking me down mentally and physically, and i would prefer to leave my job alive. But i can't quit without having something lined up after, and i really can't keep changing jobs just to have to quit after a few months. I know that I'm gonna have to figure out some way to sustain myself on my own and that is bloody terrifying. And that also means that i can't move out, which would also affect my friends, but i really need to get out of my parent's place god help me

do you actually like your job or did you just have a good work day for once?

I think I'd do well avoiding predators because I can laze my ass off at work, in the back room on my phone sitting on a cart, but the instant I hear the faintest footstep pass by the door I'm up phone in pocket pretending like I'm busy

It is not 100% foolproof. The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.

You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.

some fun reasons:

Janus is shitty at citing sources that are reliable and up-to-date and no one listens to him cuz they think hes lying all the time

Logan's literally the voice of reason and hes not being listened to cuz feelings

Roman just gave up on his dream come true because

Patton is having a midlife crisis because his job just became a thousand times more difficult cuz Thomas is growing up

Remus well, most people still jsut dont like him, do they? and logan seems to be the only one (aside from maybe Janus because janus knows already) whos starting to see his role in helping Thomas

Virgil's fears and past grievances are stopping him from listening to the dark sides' points unbiased and openminded because they do make some DELICIOUS points

(gaining sentience is the biggest regret they all have, as so helpfully pointed out by Virgil in the review ep)

I think I just need to vent or advice

I'm honestly terrified at the moment because my fiance and I moved out together which is amazing. But I quit my job before we moved, now the second month of rent is due. And guess what? I still don't have a job. My fiance can cover rent, and utilities, but barely. I have no source of income and it's scary. I'm trying so hard, but it just doesn't seem to be working. I apply to more jobs than I can count, but nothing. I'm gonna try to make an Etsy but last time I did it fell through I don't want that again. I'm so lost of what I should do. I need to get money some how to help us have a more suitable life. I want us to be at least a little above water. I don't expect us to be able to take exciting vacation within the next like three years. But being able to go out to eat once in awhile would be nice. Being able to definitely have food on the table and everything you need sounds amazing. I have no idea what to do from here. I'm trying so hard. I'm looking into cooking for people pet sitting and babysitting. But I just am struggling. It's making my anxiety and depression act up spectacularly. Which is scary in a whole other way. I just wish someone would help me figure everything out. I just wish I could find a way to make a steady income in the meantime. It doesn't even have to be an okay kind of income, just any extra money sounds amazing. Let me know if you know anyways to help me. Or what I could do. Or how I could make my Etsy successful if I do go through with it. Just any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for even reading this whole thing. It kind of helped my mind to write this all out.

The spin-off everyone wants of stobin working different jobs but make it through all the canon. MAKE THEM BE FRIENDS EARLIER.

I love platonic soulmates stobin and them becoming friends before canon??? Yes please. Please give those two more years of happines and friendship and being stupid teenagers together.

Maybe not exactly friends friends at the beggining, yk, like the dynamic they had in scoops before everything went cataplum-boom-bla-aaaaaa. And bond like stray cats with interwined souls.

They working at Benny's dinner in the first season, being the ones to found El, freaking out and bickering the whole time about what to do because that’s a child, that’s almost 100% an abused and probably now homeless child, wtf.

I know Benny barely appeared like 10 minutes in screen MAX (and i'm being generous) but i love that man and in this universe he survives thanks to those one-braincell-sharing dinguses.

They being the ones to take care of El and protect her, they know they should call cps but hey, when they tried to call she found out and throw the phone with her mind so they supposed that isn't an option now.

Robin bringing a photo of Will by accident, Jonathan and Joyce sharing it with everybody just in case and El going "i know where he is" So they suppose are going to search for a missing kid now, ig.

They bumping into the Party and everything snowballing from there.

Steve still ends up hitting a demogorgon with a nailbat btw. And losing their jobs. How? Idk, probably they quit because the feds are keeping a close eye on them and they don't want to make trouble for Benny, who knows. (The real reason is that Robin accidentally broke the machine to make milkshakes and is too afraid to tell Benny so they run off before someone figures it out)

Then they went to get a job at the Hawk, i know that in Rebel Robin it said she worked there for a while but i'm not sure when or in what so let's just say it was at this time.

You can think in a lot of little things they would get up to, like annoying couples in the middle of make up sessions, eating the pop corns that nobody bought at the end of their shifts, snuck in movies that nobody went to see when they have slow shifts and laugh out loud for how bad they are, etc.

Then the second season happens and the mall is open. The Hawk has to fire people because there’s not enough money and ended up being Steve and Robin, who had guess.

Now everyone knows what happen after that, scoops ahoy and family video.

Just let them be silly in different jobs together.

I lost my god-damned job this morning. Hated that place, but still cried. They let me work two weeks before they told me at the end of my shift today.

Haven't been home in two months but had to pack up my shit and bring back as much of it as I could. This sucks ass. I hate it here.

I never want to work again.

Especially for a place like Wal-Mart.

I want to quit my freaking job. It's absolute hell. Walmart is paying 14.50 and it's still not enough. You can't pay me enough to have an existential crisis every time I think about my job. It's not worth it. I can't keep up with the speed and accuracy they require. I can only do one or the other, and they're probably going to eventually fire me if I don't quit. I'm so tired. I'll burn myself out soon if I don't quit.

Job interviews suck

I have an interview with a shitty corporation in like 2 days. Why can’t they just give me the job? It’s not like this is the most prestegious place on earth. I do not wish to see you and answer several questions. Just let me work. I just want money to get tf out of here and start transitioning omfg.

Two years (36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours) of work toward a Ph.D. program in a related science, technology, engineering or math field;

A completed doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathic medicine degree;

Completion (or current enrollment that will result in completion by June 2021) of a nationally recognized test pilot school program.

Candidates also must have at least two years of related, progressively responsible professional experience, or at least 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. Astronaut candidates must pass the NASA long-duration spaceflight physical.

Sending humans to space, returning to the Moon, transforming aircraft, exploring the extraordinary every day: just a few things you are a part of as a NASA intern. Whether you have dreamed of working at the agency your whole life, or discovered a new interest, students at NASA have the opportunity to make real contributions to space exploration and flight. Want to know more? Here are five ways these internships can be rocket fuel for your career:

5. NASA gives you a navigation system. 

Imagine walking into a lab to work side-by-side with NASA scientists, engineers and researchers. As a NASA intern, that’s a daily reality. Mentors are full-time employees who guide and work with students throughout their internship. Space communications intern Nick Sia believes working with a mentor is what makes NASA’s internships different. “Working one-on-one has given me more opportunities to work on different projects,” he says. “It’s the best motivation to do great work.”

4. It’s more than training for launch day. 

As a NASA intern, your work matters. Students are treated as employees, and their ideas are valued. Hands-on assignments allow interns to make real contributions to NASA research and gain experience. For example, Erin Rezich is working in our mobility lab to help design excavation hardware for planetary surfaces such as the Moon. “It’s an incredibly exciting project because these are problems that have to be solved to move planetary exploration forward,” she says.

3. Students develop an array of skills.

Not only do interns improve their technical skills, but they are also building communication and leadership skills. This summer, students are taking part in a two-week immersive design challenge. Participants will design a Ram Air Turbine for NASA Glenn’s 1x1 Supersonic Wind Tunnel. “This design challenge is a unique opportunity to create a design from scratch, which could actually be implemented,” says Woodrow Funk, an electrical testing engineer intern. Projects such as this allow students to work independently, plan, organize and improve time management skills. 

2. Non-technical degrees shoot for the stars. 

NASA also offers many opportunities for students pursuing a career outside of STEM fields. Departments such as human resources, administration, education and communications engage students with hands-on projects. These organizations provide support essential to NASA’s programs and missions. “I was excited that NASA offered opportunities that match my skill set,” says Molly Kearns, a digital media student working with Space Communications and Navigation. Kearns’ first summer at NASA confirmed her passion for graphic design. “What makes the experience so rewarding is seeing content that I created published on social media sites,” she says.

Students come to NASA from all over the nation to develop important skills matched to their career goals and expand the way they think about their work. Being surrounded by the best scientists, developers, engineers, mathematicians and communicators is inspiring.
