H/D Food Fair 2022 Prompting on the 5th of June!

Prompting Guide

For this year’s Fair we’d love for you to come up with prompts, write stories, create artworks and read podfics that feature:

any food of any kind – muggle or wizarding e.g. spotted dick, bouillabaisse, chocolate frogs, Japanese or Greek cuisine

any food-related occupation - e.g. baker, food taster, professional food forager

any food-related tropes - e.g. coffee shop AU, restaurant rivals, chef competition

But with an added twist! You must also include a travel element!

any food that originated outside of Britain (e.g. Indian cuisine, Sushi chef!Draco)

any setting outside of Britain (e.g. Michelin Inspector!Draco inspecting Harry’s restaurant in Budapest)

This means that your entries must feature food as the key component and travel as a secondary component!

On 5th June, the prompting submission form and display table will go live on LJ, DW, Tumblr and AO3 collection profile.

The form covers the following:

Food Theme: Include a type of food or food-related occupation/trope Travel Theme: Include a non-British food or setting outside of Britain Scenario: Give a scenario/setting/story inspiration Era: Hogwarts Era, Post-Hogwarts, EWE, Epilogue-compliant or AU, or if that is left up to the creator Optional Additions: List no more than three items/concepts/words to include in the fanwork Maximum Rating: G to NC-17, or if that is left up to the creator

Rules and Guidelines:

You may submit ONE TO FIVE prompts a day.

Please submit each prompt separately through the prompting form.

To self-prompt, please submit your prompt during prompting period and claim your own prompt later.

Anyone can submit prompts. You don’t have to be a Fair participant to be eligible for prompting.

If you’ve made a mistake in your prompt submission, you may send an email to fanfairmod@gmail.com to fix it.

Prompts will be automatically displayed (see sample at the following link).

This isn’t a gift fest; creators are not obligated to gift the work to the prompter, unless they choose to do so.

We only ask that creators are heavily inspired by the prompt; creators must not deviate from the food and travel themes listed but may adjust the prompt scenario as necessary.

Fic: Hey Spaceman

Title: Hey Spaceman Creator: Anonymous Prompt: #342 Career Theme: Harry - Astronaut | Draco - Flight Control Rating: Teen Warnings/Content Notes: Mild language, Pining while on different planets, Getting Together, Fluff Summary: Harry is one of the worlds most well-known astrophysicists. When the UK announced they were joining the space race with their own mission to Mars, Harry knew he needed to follow his dream. He just didn’t expect to fall in love along the way. Word Count: 13,012 Creator’s Notes: Thank you so much Prolix for this amazing prompt. It was basically made for me, it was my one requirement for signing up for this fest, it had to be an astronaut prompt. I thoroughly enjoyed writing this story and watching these men fall in love before my eyes. There were many times they were ready to profess their love for each other before I was ready. I listened to The Killers a lot while writing this, specifically Spaceman and Dustland Fairytale. Finally, thank you so much to my alpha and beta, without them this story wouldn’t have gotten completed. ( Hey Spaceman )

Art Medium: Digital watercolor and ink Creator’s Notes: Huge thanks to my alpha and beta team: O and B for helping me craft the script into a wonderfully ambiguous and creepy story, and to K, Z, O, and S for your help with the artistic elements. I honestly couldn’t have done it without all of you (just no more animations 😂) Thank you to the wonderful Fan Fair mods for their patience and the extension. Title: It’s A Whole Beautiful Mess Creator: Anonymous Prompt: #167 Career Theme: Draco - Healer (Emergency Department) | Harry - Stay-at-home Parent Rating: General Warnings/Content Notes: Domestic Domestic, Fluff Romance, Family Family, Established Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, Adopted Children, Family Dynamics, Potter-Malfoy Family, Digital Art Summary: Draco Malfoy is a healer and his life is already full when he move into a new apartment, only to discover his neighbor Harry Potter is in a complete chaos due to having adopt two newborns. After founding out his profession, Harry knocking on his door for every little thing about the twins became the normality, so much that Draco had to admit that in the end he was not upset at all. In fact, he ended up spending more and more time with the little family and eventually fell in love with Harry. Art Medium: Digital Creator’s Notes: This prompt was just too cute to pass on it! When I read it I immediately think I wanted to draw the babies so I tried to make a big, nice illustration that show all the mess and cuteness the way I imagine it.

Fic: Develop, Stop and Fix

Title: Develop, Stop and Fix Creator: Anonymous Prompt: #266 Career Theme: Draco - Curator | Harry - Photographer Rating: Explicit Warnings/Content Notes: Light Angst, Accidental Identity Porn, Mistaken Identity, Misunderstandings, POV Alternating Summary: In his five years in New York City, James Black has earned significant fame as a photographer. In fact, he’s attracted the attention of London curator D. Black. Harry Potter uses a fake name and runs away. In a way, so does Draco Malfoy. How do these stories connect? It’s quite simple: they’re one and the same. Word Count: 15,000 Creator’s Notes: This somehow turned into a love letter to photography, to curating and to snogging in darkrooms. I could not have done any of it without the lovely humans who cheered me on, fixed my commas and my overused words and helped me edit the hell out of this. Thank you! ( Develop, Stop and Fix )

When a chance at the muggle secret service came up, he jumped immediately. He never expected the voice in his ear would be Draco Malfoy. Prince Draco expects to leave with a heavy heart, but his secret suitor has something else in mind. Art Medium: Digital Creator’s Notes: Thank you so, so much to the mods for the extension and all of your incredible work for this fest! I hope you enjoy this short comic! The prompt immediately caught my eye and I just had to create something for it. (Apologies for any inconsistencies with the boys’ faces; drawing the same characters over and over is HARD phew.) Draco and Harry are everything in this. Harry is gentle with Draco in a way that isn’t seen often. It’s the perfect amount of sweet.

Fic: Safe As Houses

Title: Safe As Houses Creator: Anonymous Prompt: #264 Career Theme: Draco - Magical Historian | Harry - Ward Builder Rating: Teen Warnings/Content Notes: Past Verbal/Emotional Abuse (not between Harry and Draco), Post-Hogwarts, Getting Together, Pining, Magical Theory, Pets, Magical Creatures, Epistolary (partial), Happy Ending, Protective Harry, Past Draco/Original Character Summary: After five years abroad, Harry’s thrilled to be home and working at the most prestigious ward-building firm in Britain. But everything gets turned upside down when he’s assigned to work for Draco Malfoy—who somehow grew up to be just the sort of sexy bastard Harry goes for. As if that isn’t enough, Malfoy seems strangely on edge, his wards are a mess, and Harry keeps feeling like he’s being watched in the garden. It’s going to take all of Harry’s ward-crafting skills—and self-restraint—to help Malfoy feel safe in his own home again. Word Count: 24,553 Creator’s Notes: For the loveliest @onbeinganangel, whose prompt provided the seed for this story. I hope you enjoy what grew from it.
