Bones: *In beginning, encouraging Kirk and Spock to talk to the other about how they feel*
Kirk and Spock finally do confess they start getting lovey-dovey.
Bones: *Literally any time spirk cuteness happens in front of him*
(But instead of salad it's his work or alcohol)
Some fun fan art of the enterprise crew
this probably isn't a hot take, but whenever I get to the point in a conversation where I'm talking about Star Trek characters playing DnD (it would probably always happen, I need the other person to let me talk long enough), I always get real hung up on explaining the concept that
Bones will always play Cleric, and complain about it.
I'm not done,
He will complain about the nature of the spells, he will complain about his friends getting injured, he will complain about being the only healer, he will complain if the party don't rest, he'll complain about spending all day tending people and then going and doing it all again, in the break room after work in a pretend fantasy world!
and they cave, and even Jim starts to think maybe it's a little unfair, and isn't sure how Bones got trapped in this anyhow.
Jim makes a half-elf cleric with sparkly hair and a backstory about their family being eaten by mermaids. Spock makes a druid to fill out the spells a bit so they don't run out, Scotty makes a fighter called Worp (second name might sound a bit like Core, but shh), and Uhura is playing her openly declared favourite class which is a bard.
The stage is set for another DPS.
Bones plays a Ranger.
he. cannot. stand. it.
ten minutes he's already twitchy, thirty minutes and someone makes the mistake of mentioning rangers get spell slots at a higher level and he keeps surreptitiously asking when that is.
2 tortorous hours later and he gives up.
Sorry Bones, we weren't healing right x)
...damn right u weren't, he smiles because he knows tho.
the party had never been so healthy in hp, but next session they all know Bones is loving every minute.
anyway yeah, if you met someone irl who tried to explain this chances are they were me, congrats on finding my blog lol
I may try again if I think it didn't hit hard enough or summat or I have more to say, be warned x)
“Lying makes me sweat. That’s why I can’t play poker or talk to pregnant women.”

Nyota did a slow swivel in her chair from the comms station, her back needle straight, shoulders back, eyes fixed to the good doctor, unpleasant a gaze though it was. Though it wasn’t meant for McCoy, no. Hardly. No, the sourness that bore itself into her face was for the lumbering Vulcan that had vacated the bridge a little under an hour ago.
A little under an hour ago where she distinctly heard him make the statement he was headed in the direction of sickbay.
The direction of.
This semantical, Vulcan, bastard.
And she wouldn’t be fool enough to try and provoke him with it if only to spare herself having to hear recited the exact semantics he escaped on.
She slowly blinked and the only indication to the ire that crept up her neck was the way she slung her earpiece across the comms counter.
“I doubt you’re wrong, Doctor,” Nyota rose from her chair, “— and I have three guesses where he might be, and maybe you should accompany me, because if I find him first, you won’t have to worry about tracking him down ever again, because he’s going out the fucking airlock,” she hissed in a scathing whisper between McCoy and herself.
" Look. I ain't tryin' to piss you off, okay? But I need to know just where the hell he's run off to. An' I know you know who I mean. Damn fool idiot's probably out there blinder than a bat in broad daylight. "

❛ i wish i could say i’m making a difference, but i don’t know. ❜ - from mccoy
𝑈𝑁𝐷𝐸𝑅𝑆𝑇𝐴𝑁𝐷𝐼𝑁𝐺 𝑇𝐻𝐸 𝑃𝑈𝑅𝑃𝑂𝑆𝐸 𝑂𝐹 𝑂𝑁𝐸’𝑆 𝑆𝐸𝐿𝐹 and stacking it against the great and varied needs of which that purpose serves is, at its very best, a lesson in futility; then compounded by the fact that the type of individual Lenoard McCoy was, choosing to serve inside the field he did – there is the potential to habitually feel every effort was not enough. Though, in the very humble opinion of this Comms Officer, was that so many of them [ herself included ] had McCoy to thank for the very air in their lungs, because without him nearly half the crew of the Enterprise wouldn’t be alive to draw breath. The varying instances when it was McCoy alone, whose knowledge in xenobiology - she felt - often surpassed her own knowledge in xenolinguistics [ a point of pride she did not relinquish easily or to just anyone ], was the very difference between Commander Spock being amongst the living and amongst the – not.
It was late evening, both of them having come off the end of their Beta shifts, and the mess hall was thinly populated; a few late diners from Alpha shift finishing their meals, a table of cadets consumed in some deep gossip circulating the lower decks, and then McCoy and Uhura at their happily removed little table; present enough to seem normalized to the cadet class, but a area small enough to deter more company. Nyota’s hand cradled overtop of McCoy’s, and a smile ripped the seam of her mouth;
“Bones — ” her voice, warm like a smooth whisky, said the nickname most favored by their Captain; rarely did Uhura use the moniker unless very specifically trying to convey the gentle and intentional place she spoke from, “ — the difference you’ve made for some of these people is the difference between having their lives or being memory in an eulogy. At the end of it all, the only thing we can give is all that we have, and of anyone on this ship Lenoard ; I have seen you give everything when you didn’t have anything else left but those goddamn brilliant hands of yours.”
Fondly, Nyota’s hand squeezed his, “ — best in the fleet, am I right?”

Dr. Joanna E. McCoy, read more about her here:
(And yes, her middle name is just as horrendous as her dad’s)
Daughter of Dr. Leonard Horatio McCoy and Jocelyn McCoy, née Hall, was born on January 7, 2257. In her early life, she lived on the planet Centaurus, an Earth colony orbiting Alpha Centauri. She and her family were there in 2259 when the planet experienced a crop failure and the entire population was threatened by starvation; fortunately, philanthropist Carter Winston's intervention prevented the worst. While she was a toddler at the time, both of her parents repeated that story to her very often, and this selflessness inspired Joanna in her career. When she was four, her parent’s relationship, which was already fraught, broke apart in a messy divorce, partly due to her father’s job taking him off planet often, and her mother’s growing discontent with their relationship and her longing for a former sweetheart of hers. While they tried to shield her from it as best as they could by sending her often to stay over at her aunt and uncle Donna and Fred Withers, she still witnessed many arguments and was disheartened by the repetitive fights and the pressure to have to “pick a side”, even if her parents never asked her such a thing.
Deciding on a compromise, Joanna would stay for a few weeks with her mother on Centaurus, then a few weeks with her father on Earth, as he decided to return to live in Georgia to practice medicine. During these shuttle flights, Joanna fell in love with the vastness of space, seeing it as more of a bridge between her family than a dark, unknown dangerous thing as her father did. Additionally, these constant transitions made it hard for her to ever feel rooted and at home somewhere, except in space, which influenced her choice to pursue a Starfleet career.
Eventually, her father got a starfleet commission, and as such the visitation time was more stretched out, but she never lost contact with him. When he joined the crew of the Enterprise as CMO, Joanna often exchanged messages and video calls with her father. During that time, she continued her schooling on Centaurus and did her pre-med there, until 2278, when she decided to return to Earth for medical school at the University of Mississippi, of which Leonard McCoy was an alumni.
Being a young woman with her first real taste of freedom, she had a few situationships, namely with a woman named Marianne, with whom she believed she had a serious relationship, but it wasn't reciprocated.
In 2282, while already having gone through medical school, she decided to join Starfleet medical to take additional xenomedicine and xenobiology classes, as well as earning her qualification for space service and a Starfleet commission. It was where she first met Saavik, then a first year cadet who got herself injured in a less-than-fair boxing match with a jealous player of a rival baseball team while Joanna was volunteering as a medic on duty at the Academy Gym. During that period, she also dated Malcom Erikson, then an Academy upperclassman who had to retake a few fitness tests and classes to be allowed his full commission as an officer. Joanna’s time at the academy in San Francisco brought her closer with her father, partly because it allowed her to spend time with him regularly for the first time since he began serving when she was 12.
She then served on Luna base and on Mars as a doctor, then on Deep Space 2 from 2284 to 2290, before requesting to start working on ships, namely the U.S.S Carpenter until 2296, when newly appointed Captain Saavik made a request to have her as her CMO on the U.S.S Eridani.
Joanna’s father was nervous about her joining the fleet and very scared of her first long space deployment with the Eridani, and has always been wary of her joining Starfleet, considering his own dangerous experiences in space.
A shrewd doctor and surgeon, she inherited the fierce protectiveness of her father, and is known to have a temper when under pressure. She also is a very trusting person, being far less skeptical than her father, with a very loving and generous personality, and that has caused her to be burned one time too many in her romantic relationships. Despite that, her kindness remained, and her bedside manner was appreciated by many crewmembers, until she began berating them for their carelessness in the field.

Hey sooo What If I made a spirk fanfic (and included artwork) where I blended aos into tos in which the tragic death of Chekov leads to a new helmsman being transferred to the ship: one Gary Mitchell, former…friend of Captain Kirk’s. Events lead into tos “where no man has gone before” and later, some “conscience of the king” references (tarsus iv). Kirk is desperately trying to keep his past hidden and maintain his image in front of his crew, but these events are bringing everything he’s been pushing down closer and closer to the surface. Meanwhile, Spock is suspicious of this new crew member and…perturbed as he realizes he may not know Kirk as well as he thought he did after everything (Narada incident, Into Darkness, Beyond) they’d been through over the years.
Is Spock a #liar or just a little silly cast your votes here
