As for how it became associated with Carmilla, I’m not sure. The joke was already established when I entered the fandom. I assume it has something to do with Carmilla failing to seduce Laura early on. Laura at first didn’t pick up on Carmilla’s flirtations, and later believed they were disingenuous and simply ploys to kidnap her.
