Characters' handwriting in rise (in episode order)!

"Mystic mayhem". Splinter's handwriting is very unique and cool! Love how angular it is, his "o"s are more like triangles

"Origami Tsunami". It's not shown who wrote these signs (multiple turtles?). We see mikey put the "paper on sale" sign up but we don't see him write it. However, after gathering all the samples of the turtles' handwriting, i couldn't find one of leo's and this sloppiness doesn't quite match donnie's, raph's or mikey's, so i'm inclined to say this is leo's handwriting

"Shell in a Cell". Donnie's signature. Donnie writes in cursive in "origami tsunami" too

"Stuck on you". Raph's consistently shown to write in all caps. Also he wrote this on his right palm. Is raph left handed? But! In "pizza puffs" raph writes with his right hand. Maybe raph's ambidextrous orrrrr the artists just forgot

"Pizza Pit". Mikey's handwriting. His letters are offset. How interesting! Mikey writes in all caps in "bullhop" but a bit neater

"Warren & hypno, sitting in a tree". I LOVE that we can see this evolution of april's handwriting through the years, or at least her signature, from elementary school to highschool. I also love that we see her without her jacket

This list of shown handwriting is far from comprehensive, unfortunately, but handwriting is a great opportunity for characterization that i think's often overlooked. Idk if the crew sat down and chose unique handwriting styles for each character but that'd be cool if they did! I noticed most of the handwriting in rise is all caps across characters

Muriel (good omens) and Janet (the good place) give me the same energy in a way I can't quite explain...

imagine showing any of the celestials that stupid little illusion that makes it look like youre pulling your thumb off and they all collectively lose their SHIT. like freaking out, yelling at solomon for teaching you dangerous magic, asking why youd ever do such a stupid thing, only for you to put it back and theyre just so baffled. once its been explained, diavolo and mammon would be enamoured, begging you to show them the trick behind it.

by extension. telling one of them youve "got their nose" and running off, only for them to chase after you and demand for it back. luke just straight up bursts into tears.

I love the dynamic that France and America have.

France is kind of like a semi-overbearing parental figure who indulges America. He's a child in France's eyes. When he hangs out with America, he's always a little overwhelmed by how energetic and brash he is, but he still tries to have a good time while also attempting to "mentor" him. America on the other hand appreciates France and his gestures. He subconsciously wants a father figure, but he sees France more as a mature friend who always has his back.

Okay, I know this is from the magical strike au, but I think it describes their dynamic really well. France puts SO much thought into his relationship with America. He's worrying about coming off as an old man trying to be hip, thinking he'll end up babysitting and cleaning up messes, and just generally weighing the pros and cons to attending.

Meanwhile, America is literally just like "hey dude, wanna play Minecraft?"

The dragon statue in his room is a gargoyle of his own creation and is his masterpiece.

He lights up an incense that smells like the forest and makes him feel like he's back home.

He goes around the school to take gargoyles back to his clubroom to do repair work on them for free.

He writes in the school feedback that they should reinforce the floors strong enough to withstand 50 gargoyles.

It's hard for him to wake up in the morning because he's a nocturnal fae.

He has a very efficient morning routine because he uses magic to do everything at the same time, but he loses track of time when he has to choose what color he wants his makeup to be.

Although black is his preferred color because it's Briar Valley's symbol of nobility, he doesn't shy away at the idea of using red lipstick because the Thorn Fairy prefers that for herself, or violet just to be different.

He yawns loudly, but worries that his grandmother would scold him if he lets himself be seen in that kind of state.

Generally, the confirmation we got really is that he's not just "a natural" where everything just goes perfectly for him. He puts great effort behind the scenes, not just in his hobbies but also in academics and his appearance as well.

This really did a lot to present him to us as someone relatable and works hard behind his perfect persona!
