I absolutely love this, and I raise you; Stealing Bruce's hoodies
Now, I don't think he'd be much of a hoodie guy, but things are starting to get a little chillier as fall is fast approaching gotham, and he sees all of his kids with them so he figures it must be worth at least trying, right?
The only issue is, he keeps losing his. He doesn't understand at first, he's sure that someone is fucking with him, because there's no way he could loose 6 hoodies without something happening to them. Loses one, buys another, loses that one, it's a vicious cycle, etc. He can only ever wear one for a couple weeks before - poof - they're gone, he can't seem to find them anywhere.
He's completely baffled until he catches Jason in the batcave, wearing a hoodie that seems just a little too big for him, it covers most of his hands and seems to droop a little farther than normal. Bruce squints a little at first, it strikes him as odd that Jason's hoodie was too large, it just wasn't his style. However, Upon further inspection, Bruce recognizes it as his own.
Jason, for one, is ecstatic to finally be on the receiving of someone larger's hoodie- I mean, sure, Dick's we're nice, but there was something guiltily comforting about the way the sleeves dropped a little past where they were supposed to, the way the fabric fell a little looser than normal and it smelled very vaguely of home, and safety. Not that he would ever say that to Bruce's face, but Jason was glad Bruce had gotten himself some hoodies- the unsuspecting fool.
Bruce, on the other hand, is little surprised, but not opposed. He hadn't really taken Jason for the kind of person to steal clothes, but, he thinks it's a kind of cute. Not that he would say that to Jason's face, lest risking the red hood's wrath, but there is no denying the warmth that blooms in his chest at the sight. He figures he should talk to him about the hoodies though, there's no way he could really need all six of them, surely.
Only, Jason doesn't have all six, as it turns out he is not the only one in the household to make a habit out of stealing the warm over-shirts. The next time Bruce spots one of his children sporting his hoodies, he's surprised to find Damian, of all his kids, sitting on a couch reading something in a hoodie that reaches down to nearly his knees. Bruce is nothing short of utterly perplexed, shocked to find his youngest child snuggled up in a hoodie that is much too big for him, completely unashamed as he flips a page.
There is an equally warm feeling that spreads through him this time, though it does nothing to quell his confusion. Bruce wants to inquire, wants to demand an explanation, but finds that either the question is too intimidating or he simply cannot bring himself to interrupt, he's not sure which. Instead, Bruce opts to pay a little more attention to how everyone is dressing, and it isn't long before he recognizes the patterns.
He catches Tim pacing around in one of Jason's leather jackets, watches as Cass sports a loose sweatshirt of Dukes while she works out, and notices when Jason borrow a warm, winter jacket from Dicks wardrobe one night at dinner. Bruce is fascinated by the bizarre ritual, though glad to be a part of it as he watches all six of his missing hoodies pop up across his myriad of wards, something warm and fuzzy pulling at his heart when he sees them.
Bruce considers buying one more hoodie, one for himself, to keep out of reach, but figures ultimately that it would be a waste, given all of the ones available to him. So, instead, Bruce shows up to the batcave one morning, tired but satisfied as he draws looks from his children, knowing full well why there's staring. Dick looks almost offended, but there's a grin in his eyes as Bruce sets his mug down on the coffee table, settling himself down in his chair.
He's well aware that the fabric fits a little snug against him, but it's warm and soft and he finds he likes it just as much as any of his own hoodies. Smirking a little as he takes a sip of his coffee, he finds he understands now, why everyone's stealing. Dicks hoodie feels warm, and safe, and personal, and a little like petty revenge for all of his abducted hoodies, and he loves it.
headcanon that the smaller batkids steal the bigger ones' hoodies and jackets. and by "bigger ones" I mean literally anyone bigger than them.
jason gets the short end of the stick because dick and all his little siblings take his. tim's the only one bold enough to go for the leather jackets (well, and cass, but they're way too wide in the shoulders for her) but it's not uncommon to find dick or stephanie in a dark red or gray hoodie that smells of motor oil and gunpowder.
damian usually takes dick's hoodies, but they're very oversized on him. on the bright side, there are thumbholes in the sleeves of all dick's hoodies, so he can still use his hands. the thumbholes make them a hot commodity in the winter.
there is a tim-steph-cass jacket pipeline. steph steals tim's hoodies and cass takes them from steph. hence tim stealing jason's leather jackets -- steph won't take them, so he gets to hold on to them until jason realizes and takes them back. sometimes cass will also steal duke's hoodies, but she always returns them clean and neatly folded (unlike how it goes with the rest of the family, in which they are returned only under threat of blackmail or with long rounds of negotiation).
this is an extremely long-standing ring of jacket theft. you cannot leave a hoodie unattended in wayne manor. damian doesn't actually own any hoodies, and cass only owns one, because there's so many other people in the house to "borrow" one from. nowhere is safe. steph once broke into dick's apartment to steal his warm hoodie, the one with the fuzz on the inside.
but it goes the other way sometimes. jason leaves things in the pockets of his leather jackets for tim -- film for his camera, hand sanitizer, half-filled punch cards for local coffee shops with "drink water too, fucker" written on the back. cass will tuck little slips of paper in the cuffed sleeves when she leaves hoodies out. the notes don't say anything, but they have little smiley faces and hearts on them, and steph has taken to doing something similar with corny jokes. dick just straight-up leaves candy in the hoods of his jackets.
it's a game, it's a love language. it's simultaneously annoyance and affection. there's nothing like wearing a hoodie that's too big for you, that smells like your family, to make you feel safe.
So I have a neat idea for a bowuigi fic set after the movie, but I've never written nintendo characters before so I'm putting it here for ya'll to use instead. If you end up writing it, please give me a link to the fic!
Okay so the brothers have gotten settled into their new mushroom kingdom home, Mario helping out with nasty denizens across the realms & assisting Peach while Luigi is content to just do small odd jobs like they used to do in Brookyln. Sure he's found he's adept at dealing with boos and other spirits when the need arises, but he'd rather live his life without fear or risk.
That is until Kamek contacts him from the darklands and pays him to fix up the castle, as they've been struggling with the upkeep ever since Bowser was captured. He takes the job for the sake of getting a little closure, but just as he's finishing up...he's stumbles on Junior and the Koopa kids, the 8 children trying to entertain themselves and grumbling all the while.
Luigi quickly connects some dots between the kids & some of Bowsers behaviour, resulting in him scampering to the kitchen and assisting in making a wonderful meal to make sure the kids are fed before returning to the mushroom kingdom and sneaking mini-bowser back to his castle. He helps Bowser return to normal size so he can properly care for the kids...and shenanigans, drama, and romance ensue.
I want to discuss the difference in the relationship between Mario and Luigi in the games vs in the movie universe. I mean, is their bond wholesome in both scenarios? Yes. Obviously. But there is a special closeness between Movie Mario and Luigi that I really need to ramble about. In the games, Mario was born into the world where he belongsâ a world that needed a daring hero. One of his first acts was to go on an adventure to rescue his brother, even though he was a literal infant at that time. He hit the ground running the moment he gained consciousness, and hasnât slowed down since. Everyone sees this heroism and determination, and admires him for it.
But in the Movie Verse, Mario is born into a lower-middle class family of blue collar workers in a world that doesnât take well to reckless heroism. Bullheaded bravery is considered amusing at best, and an embarrassment at worst. There are no monsters to fight or princesses to save, there is only money to make and jobs to do, and Mario does his best to adapt.
In the games (the Mario & Luigi RPGs in particular) Mario doesnât react to people disregarding or talking down to Luigi unless Luigi shows it bothers him, because, otherwise, I donât think Mario even knows it hurts him. He probably thinks that surely Luigi knows his worth, and that thereâs no use getting defensive over pointless nonsense when thereâs more important things at stake. There is a lot of love between the brothers, but there is also the natural divide between someone who has fit in effortlessly his entire life, and someone who has been struggling desperately to keep up with him, just to get brushed aside because he doesnât measure up in the eyes of the world.
Heroism doesnât come easy to Luigi, but he does it anyways because he cares about his brother, and wants to do the right thing.
In both the games and the movie Luigi is an anxious, goofy, clumsy victim of continuous bad luck, whose kindness and good nature always shines through despite everything. He is deemed too gentle and nervous to fit in, an easy target who can be mistreated and pushed around without consequence⊠⊠unless, of course, Mario is there.
In the games, Mario will argue on behalf of his brother if itâs clear his feelings are hurt, but in the movie verse Mario is prepared to throw hands in a heartbeat the moment you disrespect Luigi, because that version of Mario knows what itâs like to be talked down to. He knows what itâs like to be brushed aside and belittled, he knows that whether you take it personally or not all those small insults wear you down over time, and he isnât going to let anyone do that to his little brother.Â
On the flip side, Luigi is one of the few people who sees Mario for himself, and loves him for it. Though there are no monsters to fight or princesses to save (yet), Marioâs brashness helps Luigi stand up for himself⊠helps him move forward⊠balances him out. Luigi has always been the one person in this world who needed Mario to be as brave, bold, foolhardy, and heroic as he was.
Neither of them fit in, but they see each other and love each other for what everyone else has determined to be their weaknesses.Â
In the games, Mario can easily stand on his own because heâs being helped, uplifted, and supported by everyone and everything around him. In the movie? Luigi was, for the longest time, the only one who allowed him to truly be himself.Â
A quick piece since itâs the end of break and I still hadnât drawn anything :P

I love this so muucchhhh
Chapter 3: Falling Hard
Bowser observed from a distance, anxiously clasping his hands. The moon cast its luminous glow overhead, providing sufficient illumination to discern the offering gently swaying on the waves. Would they even be awake at this time? Do selkies even sleep? He thought. These thoughts occupied his mind as he shook his head in disbelief and exhaled audibly. Determined, the captain remained steadfast, yearning for any indication of the enigmatic creature's arrival.
As the minutes turned into hours, the captain's mind raced with questions. Would the selkie be lured by the offering he had carefully prepared? Would it even be interested in what he had to offer? Doubt gnawed at him, making him question whether this endeavor was worth his time and effort. Yet, deep down, Bowser knew that this encounter could change everything for him and his crew. A selkieâs blessing could be of great help against King Boo and-
SwishâŠ
Bowser swiftly redirected his focus to the levitating basket. He delved into his pocket and extracted a spyglass. The captain observed with mounting astonishment as a seal cautiously approached, gracefully gliding around the basket before drawing nearer. The creature delicately brushed the flowers with its snout, then fixated its gaze upon the radiant gemstone. With a fluid motion akin to removing a garment, the selkie effortlessly shed its skin, revealing its true form.
A gasp escaped his lips.Â
Part of the sealâs body turned into a human form. A very breathtakingly handsome human with the most mesmerizing azure eyes heâs ever seen, conveying a sense of intelligence and warmth. Despite the seawater, he had a gorgeous mane of brown ringlets that practically glowed. The transformed selkie turned to the side and locked eyes with Bowser.
Bowser felt a jolt of surprise shoot through him as he found himself captivated by the selkie's gaze. Those blue eyes seemed to hold a depth of knowledge and understanding that Bowser had never encountered before. It was as if the selkie could see into his very soul, unraveling the layers of his being with just one look.
As their eyes met, an unspoken connection formed between them, transcending the boundaries of species and language. Bowser could sense a mixture of curiosity and compassion emanating from the selkie's gaze.
Then they dove underwater, shattering the eye contact.Â
Bowser gathered his jaw from the floor, then feverishly looked for the selkie once again. He couldnât believe what just happened; he actually saw his alternate form! As he frantically scanned the water's surface, Bowser's heart raced and his tail wagged madly with anticipation. This was more than what he hoped for. And it felt like the selkie allowed the moment to happen. Bowser felt like he was going to faint-
âMrrrp?â
The tiny, adorable noise interrupted his thoughts. The large Koopa looked down and was met with the selkie as he leant forward out of the water. Bowser yelped in surprise, then fell backwards; he wobbled back and forth as instinctually tried to right himself up. A splash came from in front of him and a drenched hand grabbed his shirt, pulling him to his side. Just perfectly so he was face to face with the handsome man of the sea once again.
âStai bene?â {Are you okay?}
Bowser raised an eyebrow at the strange language. âUm⊠uh-â
The hand holding his shirt moved to his chest. Bowser let out an involuntary purr and felt his face heat up. The selkie didnât seem to mind his reaction. He simply nodded his head, as if to say he was satisfied with something. âCuore molto forte... Adatto a qualcuno come te,â {Very strong heart⊠Fitting for someone like you.}
âUm⊠hello you too?â said the captain.Â
âGrazie per la gemma... Ăš molto carina,â {Thank you for the gem⊠Itâ very pretty.}
Bowser nodded, despite having no clue on what he was saying. Suddenly the selkie turned his head towards an unknown sound. He removed his hand from his chest and started to move back into the sea. The captain whined at the loss of contact. The half-transformed man frowned at him. âMi spiace devo andare,â and with those words, he disappeared.
âââ âȘ °â° â« âââ
Luigi floated on a bed of seagrass, watching the rays of sunlight glisten through the water. He fiddled with the gemstone in his flippers. After receiving that basket⊠he felt like he was eternally floating. He had been right⊠These gems had been a gift for him. The captain was trying to get his attention. Their interaction from last night nurtured the seed of affection that was planted in his heart.
Luigi could still feel the warm, smooth scales beneath his fingertips, how the captain seemed to enjoy the short-lived contact. His face had even changed color after a little while; the selkie didnât even know landfolk could do that! And the way he was looking at him and how comfortable Luigi felt with his presence. The captain was also very powerful, harboring an inner fire of such potency that he has never sensed before.
Suddenly sand floated down on him.
The selkie jumped, swimming upwards. He looked to the side and saw Mario, bobbing his head up and down in silent laughter. Luigi bared his fangs and slapped him with his tail, causing his twin brother to spin. With a scoff, Luigi tucked the gemstone into a hidden pocket then swam off. He doesnât want Mario to know about the captainâs gift or his intention of pursuing the captain romantically. A small part of him still couldnât believe his forwardness.
As Luigi swam away, his heart raced with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The selkie had been enchanted by the captain's gift, a beautiful gemstone that seemed to hold the essence of the sea itself. It was a token of affection, a symbol of their deepening connection. Oh, how he wished they could understand each other.
Without realizing it, Luigi found himself on land and into their cove home. He walked over to his bed and touched the flowers he had woven into the strands. The plants had lost some of their petals but that didnât make them any less beautiful or meaningful to him.Â
Mario walked into their home, shaking water off his hair. Luigi groaned and tried to move away from the spray. The older twin smiled and laughed mischievously, âWhat are you hiding?â he asked.
Luigiâs breath hitched. âN-nothing.â
Mario raised an eyebrow, his mischievous smile widening. He knew his brother too well to believe that response. "Come on, Luigi," he teased, stepping closer and playfully tousling his wet hair. "I can always tell when you're hiding something."
âIâm not hiding anything; youâre being weird.â
His older twin hummed, unconvinced. Luigi made a face, then came up with the perfect distraction. âD-donât you have to see the princess today?â
Marioâs eyes dilated. âOh! I totally forgot!â
âHow could you forget you had a date with Peach?!â
âIt's not a date. Not this time anyway⊠She wants an update on the pirates and see if theyâll leave or not,â he replied. âIf they do plan on staying, she wants us to chase them away.â
Luigi tensed at that. He understands that Peach had a horrible interaction with a pirate before it felt wrong to generalize landfolk like that. Especially, considering the fact that he wanted to court a certain pirate captain. Luigi rubbed his arm, âW-well, what if they did want to stay? Theyâve been rather peaceful so far,â he said.
Mario sighed. âLuigi, I appreciate your optimism, but they cannot stay,â he said firmly. âThey may appear peaceful now, but when they expand, theyâll tear down the trees and eventually end up in the lagoon-â
âI still think this is unfair.â
Mario pressed his lips together, looking like he wanted to argue but stopped himself. He knew Luigi had a big heart and always saw the best in everyone, but this situation was different. Even if Luigi had made a further argument, Marioâs decision would have been the same considering everything he has heard about the sea voyagers. Mario sighed, âWeâll see how it goes,â he said. âKeep an eye on them; Iâll be back by sundown.â
Luigi fought back the excited noise that built up in his throat. Mario had basically given him permission to see the captain. He was still a little upset over how dismissive he was but he would try again later. Right now, he has a very handsome pirate to see.
.
.
.
As soon as Mario was gone, Luigi put on his coat then swam towards the ship. He looped around, looking around for the familiar spiked shell. He stayed underwater and would surface on occasion to look. He stopped by the rocks where they met, but sadly he wasnât there. Luigi quickly moved on and eventually caught sight of the family shell. The captain was gathering wood, near the estuary.Â
Overcome with excitement, the selkie galumphed onto the sandy shore and towards the large male. Luigi's heart raced with anticipation as he approached the captain, his flippers propelling him forward in swift, graceful movements. The captain turned around, startled by the unexpected visitor, and his eyes widened in astonishment at the sight of Luigi.
âItâs you!â
Luigi had no idea what he was saying, but judging by the tone, the pirate was just as happy as he was. With a joyful bark, the selkie approached closer. The captain sat on the sand, grinning; his tail was slightly wagging behind him.Â
Without slight apprehension, the land creature reached out his hand towards Luigi, who instinctively nuzzled against it affectionately. Their connection transcended language barriers as they communicated through gestures and expressions alone. It was as if they understood each other on a deeper level than mere words could convey.
OP you are right and perfect,
