I draw @azaraih's characters 500% more than my own, so sometimes K reminds me it'd probably be cool to think about and draw em again. Gettin a feel for them back. If you saw some of my sketchbooks in college or high school you might recognize some of these guys, though they've probably changed.
Note: @azaraih and I now share joint custody of a buffalo check jacket, aka we're gay. | Had a very nice friend energy boost last weekend. Socializing can tucker me out, but if I'm interacting with good friends, it gives me back a kind of uplifting energy in exchange. I like connection, and there's something about being around friends in person that brings me contentment. Last weekend we got to have friend brunch, Friendsgiving, and monthly Art Jam with buddies. I hope I can increasingly pour into and draw upon my friendship well. It's like a vitamin, I gotta get that sweet buddy spiritual nutrition. Back to sketches of @azaraih's characters! Instead of space rom, this time from a hella old fantasy horror story that's evolved a lot over time. Revenge gods drama, weird ghosts, estranged siblings, pilgrimages. Fun stuff. Not yet a comic you can read but I'm excited for whenever it becomes one.
Lil commission I did for a board games bachelorette brunch, which is the dopest sort of shindig, I feel like 🥑🍹🍳☕ Food is my fav, I should really try drawing food more
Hey friends! How are you? Hope y'all are swell. Sorry s'been real dead over here so soon after I just started this blog up. Bunch of stuff's happened with me recently, got contacted by a place I was really close to being hired by last fall after months of assuming I wouldn't hear back from them about another opening this soon if it all. Had a whirlwind week of interviews and meetings and then after being quickly hired at the end of the week, ANOTHER whirlwind of a first work week. Got immediately put on two projects, clocked in 54.5 hours that week. Thankfully that's settled down to a regular 40ish average now but it's still keeping me real occupied and sleepy. Going on my 3rd week now but still finding it pretty crazy to go from months of unemployment to sudden pretty much OVERemployment in no time at all. I'm actually loving the job despite how challenging it is though and my co-workers are rad and super nice and I like working with them!
But obv all that's meant my work/life balance struggle hasn't quite been in a place where I've been able to do as much art/post as much stuff here as I'd like. I'm workin on it, I'll get there! This past week I just wrapped up an shirt design entry for the Homestuck Design Contest over on welovefine. Yep I'm a Homestuck. (Although not really a Homestuck blogger, so if you want to talk Homestuck with me cool! If you're not a Homestuck s'all good.) So I'll throw a post plugging my design up here soon. If you like Dave Striders you're in luck? If you're here for game/otome stuff, I'm hoping to get more done with that soon! I miss it. You know who has been real productive on the game/ren'py/vn front lately though is my favorite person azaraih so if you're interested you should go check that shiz out.
Thanks! Take care! Art soon! :]
Just rewatched Pacific Rim, I LOVED it the first time but hadn't had a chance to see it again since. Ugh just as good second time around. I have a lot of feelings about Pacific Rim and how much I appreciate it but I won't really get into all that at the moment. I'll just say I enjoy it a ton :] Watched some of the special features including the drift space which was really interesting (although I wish we'd seen some drift facts about the Kaidanovskys, the Wei triplets, etc) and the bloopers (which solidify the fact that everyone on this film is super adorable.)
Watched the digital artistry feature too and it was awesome seeing del Toro's thoughts and input and creative process and how teams worked together with him on making the film. I always love watching this stuff on special features - production stuff, concept art, art direction, all that goodness that goes into making films and games and comics. That's why I'm so into "art of" books! I've been thinking about this more often lately so I think I'm gonna try to look more into this kind of development stuff. This stuff is fascinating to me and I wanna soak it up like a sponge.
Hey! I’m gay, it’s Christmas, I’m writing gay Christmas fic. Working on cranking out a fic for Happiest Season that was going to be a long oneshot, then a nice little 2 chapter, and has settled on becoming an 8 chapter fic.
If you enjoy a little slow burn, a lot of emotional processing, and were interested in the possibility of a story you thought was about a couple trying to survive one terrible Christmas actually being the story of how a different couple falls together well, perhaps I can interest you in my lil fic.
A: It really was maybe the only redeeming point, getting to kick it with you. Thanks for helping me out.
A: I would like to point out though that we are in fact...talking right now. Oh shit, the wonders of technology! We don’t actually have to miss talking to each other if we don't feel like it, do we?”
Right away, she gets a response message agreeing: No, we don’t.
//
Abby walks out on Christmas Eve and rides with John back to Pittsburgh, but the things that happened this wild past handful of days don't disappear. If anything, they stay with her weeks, months, a year and more later. But they soften, grow, change shape; they shift her life in more ways than she could have anticipated.
Texts from Riley are waiting on her phone when she and John walk back into her and Harper's apartment. She texts Riley back and then they just never stop texting.
So this is, oddly enough, an insight into the weird shenanigans I get up to at work. It started when Edmond imed me to ask if I had any Hostess Ho Hos at my desk. Explanation of convoluted work shenanigans under the cut.
I said no, and that since I had no car it would probably take me a while to walk to a store to get some Ho Hos. He asked me if I thought we could trick Ellen into getting some and I said, possibly. He suggested I fake a coma, and then they'd find a note in my jacket saying they needed to feed me Ho Hos to revive me. I said I wasn't confident in my ability to convincingly fake a coma. Edmond said he'd do it, but he'd already done it twice so it would be suspicious. I suggested he fake the coma and I pretend to be a doctor to legitimize his medical need for Ho Hos. So we did that.
This whole Ho Hos thing inspired a pretty long email thread too, but I won't really get into that. At one point though, Ellen joked that we'd eat Ho Hos at our bi-weekly instructional designer jam session this week while Edmond would be out of office. Edmond told us adamantly not to eat Ho Hos without him.
We probably wouldn't have eaten Ho Hos without him, except that the next day, Ellen discovered a pack's worth of peeps hidden around her cubicle, including drowned in her water bottle. (The peeps are a whole nother Thing I won't even explain.)
A little revenge was, thus, in order. In addition to relocating the peeps to hiding spots around Edmond's cubicle (including the rescued drowned peep, now placed in a bowl and perturbingly still soggy a day later), we decided to eat Ho Hos at the jam session while Edmond was gone.
And of course, if you're trying to make someone envious of your Ho Hos, they've gotta be damn magnificent. So we decided to try for some fancy plating. Ellen provided the Ho Hos (we've actually got an extra pack to give Edmond - after he sees the photos of these ones) and the little plate. I brought in the Torani sauce, glitter, and carved the strawberry roses.
tldr; my co-workers and I get kind of ridiculous and now I have gained the useful life skill of knowing how to carve strawberry roses.
Back in May my partner and I went to a Julia Nunes living room concert here in Minneapolis and it was dopest most intimate and emotional show I’ve been to. I started following Julia’s music years ago and her album Some Feelings means a lot to me. K and I have jammed along to every song on that album countless times.
So! I decided to make this tiny zine to give Julia at the show. Did a lil page for each track of Some Feelings. Made of blank index cards, some pens and markers, and a little blue thread.
Filled a lil 144 pg sketchbook in one week. I wanted to try pumping out a bigger volume of drawings than I usually do in a short amount of time, without worrying about quality or what I was drawing. It ended up being all OCs, hands, shoes, and fashion sketches I guess? I hadn't done something like this before so it was interesting. Trying to embrace the whole sucking and struggling and powering on part of trying to really, earnestly get better for the first time now. Gonna try something else next week.
Fic summary:
I feel like….someone’s watching me. Eve looks up from the two flimsy boxes in her hands (microwave stroganoff and frozen gluten-free shepherd’s pie) to see that someone was indeed looking intensely her way. A woman stands a few feet away, cart halted, staring right at her. Young, sickly pale, hair in disarray, clung sweaty to her forehead.
Eve figures she should probably address this situation.
|| One overthinking gay’s remix of the best queer spy vs spy romance on film, if bits of Season 1 were smushed with bits of Season 2 and it all started with a meetcute in a grocery aisle.
|| Tips for making a new friend: try having a light conversation to get to know each other over a shared snack.

Hellooo who else is gay and horny for weird?? [Spoiler warning: come back here after you’ve read the chap, I’m gonna talk about it]
Eve Polastri understands you, because she’s thirsty for a stranger’s stab hole. And Villanelle also understands you because is thirsty for Eve being thirsty for stabs. Their brain cell truly is away on holiday.
I enjoyed writing this chapter a lot since these Eve, V, and all the rest of us get to chill for one second and a indulge in some conversation. Also I like switching around the POV between two unreliable narrators. I’m always interested in what characterization you can pick up on through someone’s narrative perspective.
Lasagna-for-one man from the grocery aisle is Julian, yeah. Oksana and Eve’s ships in the night moment in Nice and Neat was a perfect beautiful gut-punch. I wouldn’t trade away that so-tired lingering stare at Eve striding savior-like, fucking near godly, fucking dream-esque slow-motion towards the hell house Oksana just escaped, just ONE moment too late for them to be together again. In that moment at least she knows clever, determined, mutually obsessed Eve came for her after all.
But yea I’m not beholden to writing what’s good for the show so fuck it! This one episode and this one moment are what I latched onto and what made me decide to explore “hey, what if it wasn’t Julian who Villanelle saw in that store, what if it was Eve? What if it was Eve, who she saw for the first time in that aisle?” I’m not even close to above daydreaming about Eve and V getting to hang out domestically in Eve’s house, not even a little. I’m so gay for domesticity and slice-of-life and my being yearns for it.
Had kind of a dickens of a time trying to problem solve the issue of V’s false backstory here. She told Eve she couldn’t involve authorities, she showed up with an obvious wound, she doesn’t have friends or anyone around to turn to. Maybe the lies she gives here still wouldn’t convince someone with a better sense of self-preservation, but we’ll see how Eve feels about it. Hopefully you all find her made up story acceptable for the fic at least.
