What is a Peace Maker? (a real one)

Do you ever really think about it? Most people consider a Peace Maker to be a push-over, someone to be railroaded and taken advantage of. Those people who think that are “jerks”. A peace maker is a person who does what he or she is supposed to be doing when he or she is supposed to be doing it.  A peace maker isn’t sneaking around, thinking he or she can get away with little things. Peace making is about respect.

At the top of the photo is a gecko that just showed up in my bathroom today. I live in Florida. Here, you don’t have to buy reptiles because they show up for free. Anyway, this is the biggest gecko to move in on me in a long time. In Florida, they are helpful. They eat a lot of bugs, which also show up for free. So, anyway, I won’t have to worry about bugs in my house for a long time. It seems like these geckos usually stay for about 2 months or so. Do you have these types of lizards where you live?

Kids that scream a lot

My intention here is Public Service:  If you have kids or you are in charge of kids and they are prone to screaming a lot for no reason, please make them quit. Here is what is happening in my world: The kids next door scream a whole lot for no reason at all. Well, my response to that is that I turn on 3 large, loud box fans and a radio to drown them out. I heard screaming today and immediately turned on the fans and the radio, all of which I let run for about 2 to 3 hours, only to find out that the kids next door haven’t been home for a week. They were not the ones who were screaming. Now, I have no idea who needed help, as I have been programmed, by these kids, to turn up noise to obliterate screaming. Parenting is NOT child abuse. Go ahead and tell yours to be quiet. It just might help someone who really does need assistance.

How to ruin a perfectly good day:

Attempt to change bed sheets, most especially if the fitted sheet has already shrunk in the wash. If that fails to ruin your day, try to either sew a new zipper or repair an old zipper. Now, that should do it! Good days can always be ruined by fitted sheets and zippers.

Always remember this: “It is not your fault when other people act unbecomingly.”

Your Online Shipping Clerks

A lot of people are ordering goods online right now. Did you know that someone is packing those things for you and making sure they get out on time? Or, do you just expect the stuff to magically show up? Your shipping clerks are not getting the month off. In fact, this shipping clerk (me) is working 7 days a week now. What is it like to get a month off? Do you feel rested? Could you come over and take care of my dogs for me? I’m really busy right now.

As my dogs have gotten older, they began to require more care. Here are some tips for taking care of your dogs during their senior years. And, if you are like me, you are on a budget. So, these are my budget-friendly tips.

1) Keep a bucket of cleaning supplies handy for the inadvertent accident. Spray cleaner, old newspapers and paper towels are helpful. The flat cereal boxes are for scrapping poop off the floor.

If you have a tile floor, like mine, foam bathroom spray is the most effective way to clean the floor after your dog has had an accident.

2) Keep your dog’s medications and special products all on one shelf. That way, you can find them quickly and you will be less likely to skip a treatment.

3) Thrift shop for blankets for your dog. You really don’t have to buy expensive dog beds. I buy these small flannel blankets at yard sales and thrift stores. They are usually really cheap because they are too short for an adult to use for a blanket.

I even got this nice candle for only 50 cents. It had been used a few times, but it is still very helpful for obliterating a bad doggie accident smell.

4) I saved the best tip for last. If your dog is having a hard time digesting dog food, you can make dishes of rice and ground turkey very cheaply. Defrost the turkey. Crumble and brown it in a mid-sized pot. You don’t have to drain off the liquid. You don’t have to add salt. Just put a tablespoon of oil, 2 cups of water and a cup of rice on top of the browned meat. Bring it to a boil. Then, turn down your stove setting to either 1 or Low and let it simmer for 20 minutes. For less than $2.50, you get enough for several days for your pet.

For a cheap dog treat, my old dogs enjoy a quarter of a boiled egg. Be cautious at first, though, as I once had a dog who was allergic to eggs. Out of the 10 dogs I have had, he was the only one that was allergic, though.
