I'm taking a class on Plato's Republic next quarter and you can guarantee I am bringing this up on the first day!
I LEARNED RECENTLY THAT PLATO WON THE GOLD MEDAL IN THE OLYMPICS FOR WRESTLING THREE TIMES. THIS PUTS A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON THINGS. I ALWAYS IMAGINED PLATO TO BE FRAIL AND MISSHAPEN BUT HE MUST HAVE BEEN FRICKEN RIPPED. I WONDER IF ARISTOTLE EVER FELT ANXIETY ABOUT GETTING PHYSICALLY (I.E. NOT JUST METAPHYSICALLY) DISMANTLED BY PLATO. PLATO WAS PROBABLY PISSED OFF BY AT LEAST A HANDFUL OF QUESTIONS ARISTOTLE ASKED HIM. ARISTOTLE WAS A LITERAL GENIUS TOO. IMAGINE PLATO LECTURING AND WRITING ON A BLACKBOARD AND ARISTOTLE THROWING A COMMENT OUT THERE ABOUT SOME COMPLEX MISSTEP IN PLATO’S LOGIC AND PLATO’S CHALK JUST SNAPS AND ARISTOTLE’S TESTICLES SUCK WAY BACK UP TO WHERE THEY DROPPED FROM, THEN PLATO IN A BLUR APPEARS BESIDE ARISTOTLE SITTING AT HIS DESK AND HE PICKS HIM UP AND SUPLEXES HIS MACEDONIAN ASS.
I have this planner with these absolutely ridiculous pages with like “motivational” quotes on them that are just these bullshit things like “Let your heart sing” and “Always believe in your dreams”
and like that’s always struck me as such meaningless bullshit, I’ve always hated those. They’ve never had that element that truly motivates me.
Today was when I realized just how bad my obsession with space is. Only one of the books is for a class that I am taking. Since some of the titles aren't visible the books are: Why Mars? The Future of Solar System Exploration Cosmos by Carl Sagan Moons & Planets Introduction to Electrodynamics Fundamental Planetary Science Orbital Mechanics Remote Sensing Physics of the Solar System Fundamentals of Astrodynamics Classical Mechanics Fundamentals of Space Systems Statistical Orbit Determination
Millenials, y'all need to step up and vote. The future is yours now. We old folks failed. Vote and run for office, or else give it all away to white dudes like this.
1. Tidy up your desk/work area. Believe me, it’s so much easier to concentrate once your surroundings are clean and smell nice.
2. Wash your teeth and face before every study session. It will make you feel clean and more awake.
3. Keep a big bottle of water near you and stay hidrated throughout the whole session.
4. Set a few goals (not very many) to accomplish in your session. Do that in order to set a purpuse, but don’t be overoptimistic, it’s bettr to focus on your priorities.
5. Put on something that you feel comfortable in. Whatever it is, a onezie, pyjamas, tracksuit bottoms, anything that doesn’t bother you and helps you focus on work.
6. Take 20 minute breaks every one or two hours (depending on your stress level)
7. If you tend to play with/pull your hair, try to keep it up in a hairstyle that keeps it out of the way. This goes out to my trich friends and anyone who obessively plays with their hair as a way to destress. Just figure out the best way to keep your hair out of your head (haha) for the longest time possible.
Some knowledge ✊🏾
The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced an ambitious plan to build a space base between Earth and the Moon, which astronauts could use as a kind of halfway house on lunar missions – or as a launchpad for new explorations elsewhere in the Solar System.
While details on the proposal aren’t yet available, the ESA says this ‘human outpost’ in space could be built within the decade – and the organisation will be actively considering the plan at a conference later in the year.
In addition to providing a “crossroads in space” to help with lunar research missions and other space-faring expeditions, this base – situated approximately halfway between Earth and the Moon – could also serve as a successor to the International Space Station (ISS).
The ISS is scheduled to come out of service in 2024, after some 26 years of active duty, and it’s not yet clear how space agencies around the world plan to fill the void left by this massively important space research facility.

Seriously though, I keep switching majors, and I finally just decided to double major and to try and get a minor in the other area I'm interested in. I need options
INTP: I tend to live in the future and put most of my energy on the big picture. But it’s not really “the big picture”. It’s like multiple fucking galaxies and alternate universes. It makes it so hard to make decisions because I want to keep my options open. I can see everything from a different angle and I don’t want to miss out on anything. It’s really annoying because I find it hard to live in the moment. If I do make a decision I can’t enjoy the pressure that’s been lifted off me because I’m so worried about the outcome and if I should have gone another way. It’s terrible -_-
