In Love with Love, 2018
I’ve finally decided to finish this stupid thing after keeping it on hold for about five years—and loving someone not for the person, but because you desperately want to be loved seems like such a terrible thing to make an illustration about, but I finally finished it.
So, I started my Twitch stream on a newer page and the like—although I still need to do a few tweaks to a previous comic page.
Unrelated; I was really sad to find out that Odile van der Stap/jumei passed away recently; I really loved her work when I was on DeviantArt years and years ago, and it was really shocking learn this when I wanted to mention an artist I really liked in context of a specific thing in the Twitch stream.
That said, I’ve found that I don’t handle learning that people have passed away, period.
...I just got a glitchy version of the taxes design a few minutes after I posted it. I have no idea how that happened, but here.
Even if I’m not particularly happy with how this turned out, I can’t say that I started with a very happy premise, either...considering that I’ve mostly been in the mood to do venty typography. Also, trying to go out of my typographical comfort zone by 1) explicitly working with RGB colors, 2) trying to fiddle with glowing shit after years of not bothering, and 3) trying to use a screwball 8-bit font...probably didn’t help.
Regardless, I tried. I figure I should show stuff I don’t do too well with, too.
I’m also kind of mad at myself for forgetting to save the stupid .psd for this particular iteration, so if I want to make it look like this again, I’ll have to start from scratch.
This should be the absolute last thing I should probably have finished for today...because ain’t poster design fun?
(Also, I used a mock-up from over here, for full disclosure.)
Here, have an animation for Star Trek’s 50th anniversary!
Even if it was technically an assignment for my advanced illustration course, I had fun with my sorry excuse for fan art (Yes, I grew up with Star Trek in the 90s. My parents and I would watch both TNG and Voyager together, and TOS on occasion.)
I also had fun revisiting nebulas and space as subject matter for digital painting, and this was a lovely excuse to do that, too. Also, this was actually the first time I’ve ever used overlays in something, to be brutally honest. You’d think I would have touched them at some point if I’ve known Photoshop for years...but nope. Not once.
I may have to make a Zelda 30th anniversary illustration and a Pokemon 20th anniversary illustration to accompany this as well, as I grew up with those, too...(and without parental influence.)
I’ve been to a lot of places. :’D

Gonna do another Twitch Stream soon! Feel free to stop on by in the near future!
I’ve been going about some really rough color testing while I’ve been doing anatomical tweaks and ink refining on the main character of a webcomic I’m working on in my spare time.
It’s really frustrating, because I’m kind of old school with my mentality of “do not mix brown and black together, unless you are an unfashionable pleb”, but it seems like this calls for it. I’m sitting here thinking to myself “Hmn...can leather be dark red? How would I go about breaking that fashion rule? I don’t know how to approach this.” I’ve also noticed that character design for fantasy characters doesn’t typically have that many restraints, so part of me is wondering if I should just resign to mixing black and brown, and being like “Screw it, those are reddish-brown leather boots and gauntlets.”
Here's an after-work selfie that absolutely no one asked for! Also, yes, I do have a day job. Sometimes it's why I come home and then don't do any art or design. Not always, but sometimes.
During the time that I’ve been overwhelmed with coursework and work to pay the bills, I forgot that I made this birb. It has been rescued from the annals of my hard drives after I decided to organize my files.
I’m almost done with some actual stuff I’ve decided to do over the holidays. I promise I won’t spam anyone with more terribly made typographic birbs. (I don’t even have any more terribly made typographic birbs.)
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
