who up thinking about movie angel face. what if you were a boy and your role in the narrative was to make the protagonist realize that what he's feeling towards the 'relationship' between you and the man you idolize is jealousy. what if he brutalized you specifically because of it

something about the fact that angel face is described as a pretty boy just adds to the homoeroticism of the relationship btwn the narrator and tyler. just so happens that the guy that incites the narrator's just so happens to be a younger prettier man, because isn't that the fear, that a partner's eyes might wonder to someone younger, prettier? and to have the narrator specifically beat his face in to try just feels like a redirect for his frustrations towards that towards this 'beauty'. (it's for a different reason in the book granted)

something something about a younger man trying to find community and finding them. how cruel it is for him to face take a beating that left him disfigured from one of the leaders he idolized (or i guess. the leader) and for him to be so twisted up that he seemed happy about it. even being referred to as angel face could be interpreted as either he's pretty or he's young, babyfaced in the way that angels are meant to convey a sense of innocence and in the movie the narrator takes that away from him. the feature that stood out enough to grant him his namesake was taken from him and maybe it was to strip him further of identity or maybe the narrator was just upset he wasn't the apple of tyler's eye anymore and that was a fine enough target

he's used like a spark in the movie, little things he does irritate the narrator and are used to emphasize the distance thats growing between him and tyler. i love his role in the narrative there
